All other media are slower, hence the lag. The surprise you feel when you read todays newspaper after surfing the web, and you realize it yesterday's news.

There are still two late-night World Cup matches to watch! Football has caused me a lot of very late nights this month, and I'm blooming knackered, suffering from an acute case of "net lag"!
